This little site was created during lockdown strictly for fun only……
One, to keep my brain active and two, for a little fun. I was a DJ in what now seems like a prior life back in what I consider to be the start of dance music “the 90’s”.
The time of no digital anything. (Sorry you could have had a snazzy digital watch or clock, that was your limit.)
It was strictly vinyl for me and all others. The new digital DJ Whizzkids would probably refer to my kind as dinosaurs now lol.
Step forward 30 years and I found myself playing around on my sons little Numark mixer he got last Christmas from Santa. This little gadget is some craic.
I am still to master it but I think with a little persistence I will be able to produce something that I could call a mix.
There is a massive difference in pushing or dragging a little plastic jog wheel to my trusty old Technics 1210 mk II’s. Anyway here is a little taster of what I’ve been up to.
Please Note: for guys and girls out there who can beat match and put a nice structured set together, I apologize in advance because you are going to find yourself shouting at the screen saying give it another push in several places lol. As I did when I watched the recording back! (Hard on the ears!)
This has been a very interesting learning curve for me.
First it was how to link the audio directly to the video as opposed to recording from a mic to the speakers I was listening to. To solve that I ordered a little Behringer UFO202. A simple little gadget that got the job done, I just need to watch my levels now.
Secondly was visuals, a webcam. You couldn’t get one without having to wait for at least 4~6 weeks. So I decided to go simply with the webcam on the laptop as I am obviously not a pro youtuber.
To THEN put the audio and visuals together I stumbled upon free downloadable software called OBS Studio. What this program can do for free is remarkable, I still am not using it to it’s full capacity but we’re getting there.
Thirdly, where do I stream to? I already had a little youtube channel set up so I streamed to there. Next I am getting emails about copyright infringements and you are only allowed to play certain tracks without monetizing them, hence some of the obvious breaks due to deleting the offending tracks. (There are several other places to stream to which I will mention in a future post but we’re just getting started with this.)
And Fourth, building out this little website on WordPress.
Whirlwind of info I know, but that is how I spend my evenings at the moment with a few beers etc. Sure what else would you be doing….
You never know, by the end of this lockdown I may find myself with a new Panasonic semi pro DJ controller and a couple of HD Webams….
You will notice in this vid that I am weirdly looking all around the screen where the camera is, this is because I am running serato dj on the laptop that you can see in the background, on the the other laptop that I am using for the webcam is running OBS Studio and it tells me what the eq is for the sound and also if the cpu is high enough not to have a glitchy stream. I must work on that also…
I hope you enjoy the music selection at the moment at least, and try and ignore the gnarly mixing lol….

There you have it, my first attempt. Things can only get better… I am also looking into being able to live stream to this website and connect my decks some how, but that is for another day…
